SUDOCO joins the European Wind Innovation Cluster Hub
SUDOCO has joined the newly launched Wind Innovation Cluster Hub, a collaborative initiative bringing together 18 Horizon Europe projects to strengthen cooperation and accelerate research and innovation across the European wind energy sector.
The Wind Innovation Cluster Hub – or Wind Hub – is the first shared structure connecting Horizon Europe projects working on innovative wind energy solutions. Bringing together around 200 organisations from research and industry, the initiative aims to foster knowledge exchange, enhance collaboration and coordinate activities across projects.
By joining the Hub, SUDOCO will contribute its expertise and results to a broader European community working towards more efficient, sustainable and competitive wind energy. The initiative will help participating projects move beyond project-by-project outreach, creating stronger connections between research activities and the stakeholders who can use, test and apply their results.
The Wind Hub will coordinate communication, dissemination and stakeholder engagement activities, facilitate the exchange of lessons learned, develop joint positions towards policymakers and provide the wind industry with a common point of contact for Horizon Europe research and innovation.
Four areas of wind energy innovation
The Wind Innovation Cluster Hub is organised around four thematic working groups covering key challenges for the future of wind energy:
- Circularity, sustainable and high-performance materials, including recyclable blades, circular resins, advanced composites and end-of-life solutions;
- Digital monitoring, O&M and wind farm control, covering digital twins, AI-based monitoring, predictive maintenance, O&M optimisation, wind farm control modelling, forecasting and decision-support systems;
- Offshore wind technologies and infrastructure, including floating technologies, platforms, mooring and anchoring systems, deployment methods and nature-inclusive solutions;
- System integration, grid and market readiness, addressing areas such as HVDC interoperability, storage, grid integration, market value and offshore electrical infrastructure.
SUDOCO’s work is particularly aligned with the Digital monitoring, O&M and wind farm control working group. Through its research on the control room of the future, the project is developing new approaches to support wind farm operation and control, making its participation in the Hub an opportunity to exchange knowledge and explore synergies with complementary European projects.
First public meeting at WindEnergy Hamburg 2026
The Wind Innovation Cluster Hub will make its first public appearance at WindEnergy Hamburg 2026, taking place from 22 to 25 September 2026, where the initiative will host a dedicated exhibition stand.
On 22 September, Hub members will also take part in a one-hour session at the Speakers’ Corner to present the initiative, introduce its four working groups and discuss the innovations, challenges, results and expected impacts emerging from participating projects.
SUDOCO joins ATLANTIC, BLADE2CIRC, DTWO, EOLIAN, ICONIC, INF4INiTY, LIGHTWIND, MADE4WIND, MERIDIONAL, REFRESH, SUSTAINOW, TAILWIND, TWAIN, TWINVEST, VERTIGO, WHEEL and WinDTwin as one of the 18 founding projects of the Wind Innovation Cluster Hub.
Through this new collaboration, SUDOCO will contribute to strengthening connections between European wind energy research projects and ensuring that their innovations and results can generate greater impact across the sector.
