First edition of the SUDOCO newsletter

Uncover the future of European offshore wind energy with our project newsletter!

NETWORKING

A complex mathematical process, a sophisticated algorithm, an invisible flow of numbers and figures—these are not the first features that come to mind when imagining a wind turbine. As a matter of fact, the continuous stream of data and information generated by the turbines needs new digital instruments to be harnessed. That is why, in SUDOCO, we are building the Control Room of the Future.

Atmospheric conditions, wind speed, electricity prices, environmental impact, and energy delivery security are just some of the many factors to be monitored while managing the operation of a wind turbine. And here is where SUDOCO blows in, with the challenging task of integrating these numerous factors, much like tackling a complex puzzle.

In this first edition of the newsletter, you will discover an overview of SUDOCO’s proposed solutions, activities, and objectives. It includes a video presentation, a downloadable leaflet, the latest news, and details about the upcoming September event organized in collaboration with four sister projects.

Indeed, SUDOCO is not navigating the new horizons of European offshore wind energy alone. Complex issues need diverse sets of solutions: that is why SUDOCO started in the last months a dialogue with like-minded projects. In particular, TWAIN enhances wind power plants’ design and operation through AI and digitalization, supporting EU decarbonization goals, while WILLOW develops a system for offshore wind farms using AI/ML to optimize turbine operation and maintenance. Then ICONIC project creates tools for integrated wind farm control and MERIDIONAL provides a knowledge hub to improve wind farm design and performance assessment.

Together, SUDOCO and these other projects are reshaping the next generation of wind turbines, their control and efficiency. Dive deeper into this newsletter to uncover their full impact and discover how SUDOCO addresses these challenges.
